Sensex Today | Sensex opens lower amid weak global cues; Nif

PowerGrid and ICICI Bank declined 2 per cent, each, and were the top Sensex laggards, followed by NTPC, Bajaj Auto, and State Bank of India (all down 1%)

New Delhi: Indian benchmark indices opened lower on Friday with Nifty below 15,100 on the back of weak global markets. At 09:15 am, Sensex was down 222.82 points or 0.43% at 51,101.87, and broader Nifty was down 64.50 points or 0.43% at 15,054.50.
Note that as of closing on Thursday, both Sensex and Nifty gave up Monday's gains, courtesy the three-day drop. Among the sectoral indices, the PSU Bank index opened 0.8% higher in today's trade while the Nifty Bank index shed another 200 points to open below the 36,500 mark.
