New Jersey is one of the most diverse states in the country, according to the Diversity Index, a measure that’s based on recent Census data.
The Diversity Index looks at race and ethnicity in a different way than other surveys, which often look at the percentage of people of color or the percentage of one ethnic group compared to another. Instead, the Diversity Index asks a different question: How balanced are all the racial and ethnic groups in a particular town?
