Fox news night, im Shannon Bream in washington. New fallout from the abrupt resignation of hope hicks and new praise for the president president s several white house officials from press secretary Sarah Sanders to chief of staff john kelly commending hicks for her service. That praise comes against a backdrop of reported dissension between President Trumps closest longterm advisors and family members by jared kushner, ivanka trump, and hicks, and white house chief of staff john kelly. Chad Program Covering the symptoms confusing meeting with lawmakers on guns, latebreakiny broward Sheriffs Office. First chief National Correspondent ed henry on the latest tonight. Hey, ed. After this story broke, hope hicks was seen crying, as were others, on the Communications Team at the white house, a sign of how well like she was in the west wing, but also how abrupt and unexpected this exit really was. She is only 29 years old, and yet became very effective and influential. The president s longestserving aid got high marks for helping shepherd the tax cut messaging, which is what the president had in his statement, praising the three years dating back to the campaign. Hicks received some negative publicity when her boyfriend at the time, reporter, left after accusations he abused her coat lives. Hicks spent nine hours behind closed doors testifying to the house intel panel, took heat after it was revealed, among other things, told lawmakers she has told white lies for the president. Some saying tonight that is not a big deal and shows that this Russian Investigation finally end. They tell me this exit has nothing to do with yesterdays testimony and that she had recently signaled she was planning to leave anyway. Senior advisor to the president president president tells me one of the real reasons is that chief of staff john kelly is trying to consolidate power. Even though kelley did put out a statement declaring hicks has served her party with great distinction. This comes admitted allegations kelly may be trying to ease out Senior Advisor jared kushner. After a series of leaks about his security clearance troubles. Bloomberg news is reporting tonight that more than 30 white house staffers have been stripped of their topsecret clearances. If you look at all of these highprofile exits, that is a significant number of people who have left just over a year into the administration. Michael flynn at the very beginning, as you mentioned, the deputy chief of staff, there have been several Communications Director is already on from the press secretary, Reince Priebus leaving very early, Anthony Scaramucci on duty as Communications Director for, what, less than two weeks. Bottom line is that there have been a lot of exits but also the president right now has a lot of jobs he needs to fill and people close to him who are leaving. Shannon ed henry with the latest on the white house. President Trump Holding another wideranging listening session on guns, this time with lawmakers. The president surprising observers by, at times, favoring proposals from guncontrol advocates. California dedicated Dianne Feinstein and amy klobuchar. Stunning conservatives with a seemingly flippant attitude on constitutional due process. Some pushback on you will remember survived a shooting last june. I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy mans case that just took place in florida. Take the guns first, go through due process. Can you do that . Can you . Some of the things youre not going to agree with. Can you add what amy and dianne have . If you had concealed carry to this, youll never get it. Chad pergram joins us. What did we learn about the president s intentions . He was in this meeting about what he wants to be done. It is clear he is steve at deviating from the orthodoxy on guns. This is where people are starting to wonder whether or not this is a tectonic plate shift on firearms. I talked earlier in the week with bob casey, the senator from pennsylvania. He said it feels like things are shifting but he doesnt know if this is a Tipping Point or not. The democratic congressman from connecticut, represents a new town, home of the shooting in 2012, she says it is a Tipping Point. We think about newtown and columbine and virginia tech, all of these things seem to be seismic events, but are they just features with fissures . He says, things have changed. Fundamentally, you never had a republican president talking about some of the things on firearms he is proposing now. That is a republicans, you know, if you look to the body language from steve scalise, the whip, they seem to be very uncomfortable. Shannon it doesnt matter what he proposes if the votes arent on the hill. What is next . Will they get something substantive done . This is about a balancing act on capitol hill. He even said at one point that it is tough to get votes on capitol hill. It is kind of a goldilocks theory here. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. If you put together a comprehensive bill, try to get too many things in the bill, something the president said he wants to do, you might start to lose votes because he put something in for sweeteners, what we call the sweeteners on the hill, apparently mary poppins, a spoonful of sugar, or some are perceived as poison pills. How do you get that balance rate, how to talk about the reciprocity, the concealed carry . That was a bill in the house of representatives that pass, and the sweetener was the enhanced background checks. Then you move it back across to the house of representatives, do democrats say, we want more, how do strike that balance, not too hard, not too cold, just right . I like the word comprehensive, make something beautiful, that was his word there were also times he said things could be paired up. How are conservatives feeling, some seem very nervous after watching this today. There are republicans in the senate that i have spoken with in the past couple of days, after their meeting, didnt say guns, outside school safety. We absolutely have to, the mr for safety, its an election year, if we deviate from the usual position that republicans had on firearms, does the nra come after us . He raise the point in the meeting saying, wait, you dont understand how powerful the nra is because chris murphy is a democrat. If republicans deviate too much, you could have a situation where the nra turns fire on republicans, not democrats. Shannon have somebody running to the right, avoiding more guncontrol and new laws, something im sure everyone is thinking about. That person proposed a lot of things. Thanks for coming in. As Florida Shooting survivors returned to school, new developments in the investigation into the shooting response. Theyve been working with sources, what have you learned . Shannon, there are some strong allegations from several sources here on the ground, saying that the Commanding Officer during the day of the shooting gave premature orders to deputies to stage the next day outside or form a perimeter outside instead of urging or allowing this deputies to at least immediately rush inside, one Law Enforcement officer is saying that staging outside for a shooter is neutralized go outside make outside of training, and much that had to go, go, go. One said the alleged bad commands could have been detrimental to victims. Every second is another life. We spoke with multiple sources at city and county level who all say they heard the scene that day was chaotic. Here is what the president of the Broward County w union said. Which is a higher priority to get a staging aimer area up fow enforcement and instead of sending people in. People need to be held accountable, because that precious time loss could have saved lives. The Broward County Sheriffs Office active shooter policy indicates the policy is to enter the structure to preserve life. Staging the perimeter is not listed as a priority. All of the allegation seemed backed up by a copy of the dispatch call log obtained by fox news which appears to indicate several commands for deputies to stage or form a perimeter when calls were still going across the radio that the shooters i. D. And whereabouts were unknown. What some sources say was still an active shooter situation. At least two say that staging eventually has to happen at every emergency and active shooter scene, so perhaps it wasnt a bad call. We reached out to to the Broward County Sheriffs Office and also to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement which is investigating the Sheriffs Office, and both agencies say they cannot comment because still an active investigation but they will eventually release their timelines. Shannon matt finn, thank you for your reporting there. All of this as the nra continues to face heavy criticism from the Mainstream Media and those who want new gun laws including many outlets that regularly get basic gun facts law. Dan bongino is an nra member who joins us tonight. Thanks for having me. Shannon lets talk about a couple of things we heard from the president , i want to play this sound bite where he was talking about this issue of due process and taking away guns. Here is what he had to say. It takes so long to go to court to get the due process procedures. I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy mans case that just took place in florida. To go to court would have taken a long time. But take the guns first, go through due process. Shannon let me get your reaction to that, dan. Thats not what due process is. Im a big supporter of the president. I think his heart is in the right. Know my place. But due process is not taking the firearms court been going to court second. Having said that, shannon, if it is a clear case, when i was a new york city cop, we had an emotionally disturbed person, where you are a danger to self or others, you can remove the weapon. But due process, to personally remove the constitutional right, if your process is going to court first, we have to be clear about. We still live in a constitutional republic. Shannon when were talking about this issue of mental illness, having it adjudicated at any level is tricky. I dont think anything the president would propose, skipping this step, there may be some who would support something that is more aggressive. At the same time, i cant imagine getting enough votes to move forward if it is as plain as that. Also we have the media talking about guns, how they work, how you use them a lot. I want to play a little bit of a couple of things you got from cnn and let you talk about the information they were running. Those are single shots. If i wanted to fire this on. My automatic, all i do is keep firing. For a woman, where are you going to hide that gun . If you wear a dress, a skirt, are you going to have to wear a jacket with a belt and a holster . Shannon as a woman i can say, there are ways. But for a lot of folks, they look at these commentaries we can start on the holster situation, the boardroom situation, then go back. Do you think that these people dont understand what they are talking about . Is it accidental or intentional misinformation . Those two clips you played our epidemic in the media today. Now you see why a lot of lawabiding americans who just want to be left alone they did nothing wrong with their firearms at all, they just want to be left alone, by they see this is more this is important more than just a war on firearms. This is a bore on their culture. Clips like this dont tell. What the what the hack is a full semiautomatic as the guys said . What is that . Ive never seen such a thing. Semiautomatic, meaning trigger pull, one round, automatic trigger pull, rounds keep going until you stop pulling, until you empty that, after you stopped oppressing it. They do not know what they are talking about. Then we had the second clip, i know that guy, i like him, he has a great history of service with the fbi. But where do women hide their guns . I dont know, have you asked one . I have. I know a number of places they hide them. Guys have the same issue in florida when you dont have heavy jackets on. It was really just a sad thing to say and it points to the fact that, again, just some of the stuff. More than about just guns. Americans see it as a war on their culture and the elitists in d. C. Trying to tell them how to live. Shannon i want to read a couple of treats, a gun beat reporter, not conservative, but she understands at least she doesnt appear to be, she understands where people are coming from. If you are a gun owner and you are seeing blatant errors and exaggeration and a tone of hysteria about a Consumer Product that you own, about something that is in your house, why should you trust journalists reporting on other areas you might not know first hand . Big news outlets often make basic technical mistakes when talking about guns and gun laws and get they dont correct them. They keep making the same mistakes and that tells gun owners they dont care about accuracy, that theyre not interested in getting it right. Is that fair . Shannon, we have been through a year of fakeness on other networks where they have literally overruled their own stories. Journalists have had a problem during journalism. Journalists doing gun stories is almost comical. A famous usa today bayonet, i swear to you, what, are you trimming your hedges with your ar15 . It was the dumbest thing id ever seen. It shows this cultural divide. Youre going to speak about guns, try to understand them first, dont say things like full semiautomatic and talk about chainsaw bayonet. It is ridiculous and makes you look absurd. Shannon it is about the facts. If youre going to talk so we can have a good debate in both sides can understand, its important to be a factual information. Dan bongino, good to see you. President trump again lashing out at attorney general Jeff Sessions on twitter. This time for the way he is choosing to investigate allegations that the Obama Administration played fast and loose with the facts in order to get pfizer wants to spy on a member of his campaign to invade the president reading why is attorney general Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate massive abuse, adding, is in the ig and obama guy . Why not use Justice Department lawyers. The attorney general will appear here tomorrow night in a fox news night exclusive. There are growing questions tonight about some of the spending practices they are in the department of housing and urban development under ben carson. He is facing allegations that while cuts are being made for americans, money was spent freely on furniture and decor. For example, carson reportedly spent 31,000 taxpayer dollars on a new dining set in d. C. Now, a hud official is quoted as saying that a career staffer was behind the decision to buy the dining set, not secretary carson. Today the Supreme Court heard a challenge to a Minnesota State law that bans political attire at polling places. The First Amendment case came up in 2010 with the executive director of the Minnesota Voters Alliance was denied entry for wearing a shirt with a tea party slogan and a gaston flag. When asked about the phrase parkland strong on a shirt, minnesota officials said that would be allowed, but when they were asked about a shirt sporting an nra logo, they saidd because it is political. Well have a decision in a case by june. Less than a week ago she was called the most powerful person in President Trumps washington. Shannon what does the sudden departure of one of the president s closest confidantes mean for the white house tonight . It comes amid allegations of tensions. Members of the president s family and his staff. Some of the media all too happy to paint a picture of an administration in chaos. Is that fair . Joining us for the debate is talk show host of the Leslie Marshall show, Fox News Contributor Leslie Marshall, and senior columnist kurt schlichter. Great to see you both tonight. Good to see. Thank you for having us. Leslie, what do you make of this . There is always some sort to make turnover, but even to folks in the president s camp, it seems like a lot. Donald trump said that he was like Ronald Reagan, and this is when he is, Ronald Reagan is the one who had more turnover with communication directors. Honestly, my sources in washington tell me this was about six months in the making for hope hicks. The perception, shannon, i think, among americans, is that, you know, she talked about white lies, yesterday she was sitting there for nine hours giving information, and now she is gone. Even if that is not the truth. It has the appearance that this is come up with a lot of turnover, and administration in chaos. That is not good coupling that with the latest Approval Rating ratings. Shannon the den mike thencoalition founder, no one in their right mind would ever n as Communications Director of the white house after months on the job, and to pursue other opportunities, give me a break . Hope hicks is probably running straight to muellers office so she can be a witness, not a suspect. Trumpcolluded. Kurt . Enough of this collusion delusion. Hope hicks has been helping donald trump for years. It is exhausting just reading his tweets every day. Imagine having that as your entire life. She is a 29yearold woman. She has got great talent. Shes got a great resume. And shes got Great Potential to really do something else. Shes probably exhausted and just moving on. I think leslie is right. I think this has been going on. I have to disagree with leslie, i dont think the American People are thinking, well, she testified for nine hours yesterday. I dont think they are thinking about the Mueller Investigation at all anymore. It has proven to be absolutely nothing. Shannon all right. Lets meet take you to another topic. The president is being tough on the attorney general again. They have had their spats, theyve made up, details of Jeff Sessions trying to resign, being run down by Reince Priebus, being brought back. We told you about the president s tweet where he said, i dont like that fisa investigation, he needs to not use the Inspector General. He says, we have initiated the appropriate process for complaints against this department, there will be fully and fully activated on as long as i am the attorney general. I will continue to discharge my duties with honor. But we are discussing in the office is, how does this play outside the beltway, are there conservatives that are happy at the president is going after the attorney general or are those that think, going after your own staff. How do you think it plays out . I have heard from republicans that they want the president to stop attacking, they seem more in Jeff Sessions camp, whether it is trey gowdy or on her own network care, jason chaffetz, who said it is embarrassing, and i would go further, say this is juvenile. Jeff sessions pledged his allegiance to the constitution, not to donald trump, and donald trump needs, as president , to be president ial and have confidence in the man he appointed. Jeff sessions, i may not like the pick and i may not like everything he does, but he is doing his job. Again, hes got to let the man do that. Shannon some of them are like, yeah, mr. President , go after him, others are saying, a public servant, be methodical, this is what you have to do, let him do his job. Jeff sessions is a tough guy, he can do it. You get to ask him all about questions that have frustrated so many shannon i do. Yeah. They are very frustrated by Jeff Sessions. This mueller thing keeps going on and keeps coming up zero. And now when we have a real crime, a real problem, he seems to just kind of toss it over to somebody who may not be eager to get to the bottom of that, donald trump is frustrated, conservatives are frustrated. Wed like to get through this. We want to get it done so we can start doing the important things we need to do. We have infrastructure, we have to get teachers armed and schools secured. We need to protect our students. Theres a lot of things we have to do. We have to continue to build up our military. We dont have time for this nonsense. Jeff sessions doesnt seem to be trying to push through in getting it done. Its frustration. Shannon i know where to put you down on this, kurt. Leslie shaking your head. We are out of time. Great to have you both tonight. Thanks for having us. Shannon once a Community Activist himself, president obama outraging Community Activists in his hometown. Shannon with the oscars red carpet coming up on sunday, will Ryan Seacrests bosses stand by him . He continues to deny allegations of Sexual Misconduct as the accusations grow. Joining us live from l. A. , hi, trace. The allegations first made back in november by susie hardy, a personal stylist for the e network, from 2007 to 2013. At the time, hardy would only say that she endured years of unwanted aggression by seacrest. The e. U. Network conducted an outside investigation, and announced that there was insufficient evidence of wrongdoing. Seacrest and his attorney then painted the matter as a shakedown saying hardy demanded 15 million. But susie hardy is now fighting back in an article published this week by variety, hardy says she never asked for money and said the e News Properties never checked. For the first time, hardys detailed allegations, claiming Ryan Seacrest broke her genital and slapped her buttocks. Seacrest issued a denial, i have no choice but to deny the claims against me, remind people that i was recused of any wrongdoing, and put the matter to rest. Seacrest also claims variety failed to interview him, but the publication says his representatives would not make him available and instead issued a variety statement which was issued in her entirety. Instead a coworker told suzie hardy that he witnessed him being an appropriate. Despite that, e Network Executive said seacrest will host this sundays red carpet coverage, but some top hollywood publicists are telling our corporate cousin, the new york post, that they will steer many of their stars away from it seacrest. One actress said, in the wake of the scandal, seacrest should give up the microphone, but she later backtracked that statement, saying she didnt realize he had been cleared by investigators. Shannon . Shannon will watch on sunday night, trace, thank you very much. Has he forgotten his roots . That is by Community Organizers are lining up to say against former president barack obama over plans for president ial library. Ellison barber joins us with the story. Chicago is a very special place, chicagos south southside in particular, and it is why the president wanted his library and the president ial center in jackson park. In january, the they release t, talk about the center, how which will hopefully inform and inspire future generations, how it might introduce the world to southside, and what he hopes it will do for the people already there. Here is the most important thing. Michelle and i want this center to be more than just a building. We want to create an economic engine for the southside of chicago. Some Community Activists arent convinced it will. They are increase gentrification and push out people that have called the southside home for years. We have already seen a massive move, about 200,000 of us move from the city. Judge for regentrification is real. What was 600, 700, not 2100 in rent. They want something to ensure the center will actually benefit the community. Among other things will require jobs set aside for people and communities around the center, protect lowincome housing and home owners for the Obama Foundation wont agree to it. A representative told fox news in part, we have an opportunity to do more. The Community Benefits agreement signed with a few organizations who dont represent the entire community. Activists say its wrong. They protested and prayed outside. Inside, the president addressed some of the critics. You can say we want more jobs, more businesses come up more opportunity for our kids, but otherwise, we want everything to stay exactly the same. It just doesnt work that way. But what we can do is make sure we are working with organizations and institutions in the community to preserve affordable housing, to make sure that it is residents that are benefiting. Shannon the activists essentially say a verbal even if it is from former president obama, isnt enough. They want the commitment and legal form, and shannon, their fight is not over. Shannon it sounds like it is far from it. Ellison, thank you very much. Jordan kushner getting his security clearance downgraded. The middle east Peace Process ambassador john bolton here to weigh in on that and more, and americas pastor gets an american heros farewell. That and more when we return. No, please, please, oh shrieks in terror heavy breathing and snorting no, no. The running of the bulldogs . Surprising. Whats not surprising . How much money aleia saved by switching to geico. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more. Shannon the New York Times tonight reporting that Jared Kushners family real estate business got billions of dollars in loans from two companies after they took part in my test meetings. Kushners Company Spokesperson said is an attempt. President s soninlaw and Senior Advisors security occurrences downgraded. Something the state Department Says will not affect his diplomatic work. Overall i can tell you that the state department worked very closely with mr. Kushner and others at the white house to advance one of the president s top priorities, and that is middle east peace. I can tell you the pressure will not come off middle east peace. That is a top priority for us, and we expect mr. Kushner to continue his work on that. It is something very important to the president. Shannon joining me now, former ambassador to the united nations, senior fellow at the American Enterprise institute, Fox News Contributor, ambassador john bolton. Glad to be with you. Shannon you know he is involved in all sorts of things, middle east peace, how does this impact him . Still got security clearance, just not toplevel. What does it mean . There is a pretty significant gap between seeing material at the top secret level with all of the code words and compartmented information versus adjusting information at the secret level. In that sense, until the security clearance is resolved, he sees a smaller universe of information. Now, whether the negotiations, what is going on behind the scenes, really, that doesnt make that much difference in his daytoday work. I dont think you can tell from the outside. I think what it illustrates is, theyve got to get these issues resolved. I dont blame jared kushner. I dont blame general kelly for it. I dont think this is a breakdown at the beginning of the administration when they just werent paying enough attention to these clearances and seeing the problems being presented, the porter scandal just being the most visible. I think what general kelly seems to have done is excited about a process to get the issues resolved, and i think everybody the sooner Everybody Knows the answers, the better. I have been investigated by the fbi, i dont even know how many times anymore. I have reviewed files of investigations, for example, at the Justice Department, over 100 sitting federal judges, many of whom are still on the bench. All kinds of information in these files. If it takes time to resolve them, if the people were the or the subject need to confront charges or allegations or questions, for goodness sakes, give them a chance and lets move on. Lets make a decision. Shannon his representative says he has been forthcoming, he has helped cooperate, it does just take time. Well continue to watch that. Meanwhile, i want to ask about russia. We have a tweet from the woman who was hoping to be our president , former secretary of state has as this. I say this is a former secretary of state and as an american. The russians are still coming. Our intelligence officials are imploring trump to ask. We we will we continue to ignore and surrender or protect . We have heard testimony that they were trying to meddle in the 2018 elections, what do you make of this . I am delighted to have Hillary Clinton back in this debate. This reset button, the secretary of state who came in in 2009 fully of the view that the difficulties in our relationship with russia, and there were a lot of them, has largely been caused by the Bush Administration and the United States. She and joe biden and president obama were going to press the famous reset button, get rid of these obstacles, and everything would be hunkydory with the russians. Where was the accommodation coming from . It was coming from the state department under her leadership. Lets not forget the famous open mic, and that the president made to thenrussian president right before our 2012 election when he said, tell vladimir that after our election i can be more flexible. The idea that somehow the Obama Administration was tough on russia just doesnt stand up to scrutiny. Specifically on the election meddling issue, if they were so conscious of what was going on, if it struck them so problematic, why didnt they do something about it when they were in office instead of complaining about it later was to mark shannon getting reports last night from nbc saying they were a number of states targeted by the russians, didnt find out until later. Several of the states denying it. Still a lot of confusion about where russia has gone with some of this meddling. Well stay on this story. We know you will as well. Mr. Ambassador, thank you very much. Is the youtube getting politica political . It is using to police it is using to police content, that is coming its 6 40 million americans are waking up to a gillette shave. And at our factory in boston, more than a thousand workers are starting their day building on over a hundred years of heritage, craftsmanship and innovation. Today were bringing you americas number one shave at lower prices every day. Putting money back in the pockets of millions of americans. As one of those workers, im proud to bring you gillette quality for less, because nobody can beat the men and women of gillette. Gillette the best a man can get. Shannon a few of americas finest are trying to put to an end to a practice most people find despicable. Some people call it pay to slay, the practice of palestinians rewriting terrorists and their families for murdering jews, americans, and others. We are told that many people feel the palestinians are actually using your tax dollars as blood money. They are on one of the most meaningful deployments of their lives. A group of west point graduates on a mission for one of the following classmates and his family. They came to support the act, a bill that would cut off american aid to the Palestinian Authority. If it does not stop terrorists to kill israelis and american citizens. Taylor was 28 years old and served in iraq and afghanistan and was stabbed to death by a Palestinian Terrorist two years ago. Palestinians have a reward program for terrorism committed in israel. Taylor was a victim. I truly hope no other family has to go through what my family has been through. And that people arent rewarded for killing others. The bill would cut off roughly 300 million a year in american aid, about the same among the Palestinian Authority says it gives to its martyrs fund, money that helps convicted killers and their families. The idea that american tax dollars would go to pay the family of the man that killed their son seems completely backwards. The white house has recently been ratcheting up the pressure on the palestinians by moving the u. S. Embassy to jerusalem this spring and cutting off some aid. Some have cautioned that cutting the payments could undermine the Palestinian Authority authorities standing and depressed and has failed they wl continue. The americans are always telling us we must stop paying salaries to the families of martyrs and prisoners. We categorically reject this command. Good to see you, sir. Some of the senators on both sides of the aisle who met with family and friends have said they support the bill but were not ready to go on the record. Others had no such reluctance. How do you explain to any american that your taxpayer dollars are going to Fund Terrorists who are murdering americans. It is indefensible. We want to put an end to that. It is my we have led an effort to create the taylor force act. I think its going to become law soon. Chuck schumer, a cosponsor of the bill, says no democrat. It. The white house says if the legislation does reach President Trumps bill desk, he will sign it into law. Shannon . Spewing time for the real news roundup. With Liberty Mutual new car replacementâ„¢, well replace the full value of your car. Liberty stands with youâ„¢. Liberty mutual insurance. Shannon one week ago, reverend billy graham finally got to, as he would say, meet god face to face. Today President Trump and members of congress gathered to pay tribute to the nations pastor along with his family and thousands of others who showed up today as he lay in honor inside the Capitol Rotunda. There was a big crowd and most folks were smiling as they stopped to pay their respects. We will leave you with these images tonight, if you didnt make it here to washington.
