>> reporter: no, the "los angeles times" spoke with her before the news broke and asked who was her baby daddy and she said it was her ex-husband. they then talked with her after the report came out after the former governor said that he was the dad and she just declined comment. >> kendis gibson in brentwood, thank you. former michigan governor jennifer granholm isn't holding back as she reacts to the news. this morning, she tweeted, another guv admits to cheating on his wife. maybe we need more women governors. guys, keep ur pants zipped, for pete's sake, dash arnold. a former press secretary confirms it was granholm to typed the tweet. the chp just lifted a sig alert on 880 but traffic still very slow after this deadly accident. it happened about 2:00 this afternoon near the high street exit in oakland. this gray van apparently the driver lost control, went down the embankment and slammed into the tree. the driver died at the scene there. no word on what caused the driver to lose control. a fight over how to deal with gangs is brewing at an oakland city council meeting tonight. the issue, should the city restrict the movements of known gang members? are gang injunctions legal? are they worth the money? christin ayers on why some want to end gang injunctions. christin. >> reporter: elizabeth, now that city attorney john russo has left city hall, some counsel still members say they see an opening, an opportunity to question whether the injunctions are necessary or even legal and were to cut off funding entirely, according to some of city council members. from flyers to facebook post. >> what i'm expecting tonight to look like is the community members turn out in force. >> reporter: whitney walton and other members of the stop the injunction coalition are urging supporters to cram oakland city hall. >> i think it's going to be completely and entirely packed. >> reporter: hoping to pressure the city council into choking off funding for the injunctions as quickly as tonight. >> we are definitely hopeful they will defund. >> reporter: the vice mayor wants the injunction to end but says this is merely the first step in undoing a controversial mandate that imposes curfews and boundary restriction in various areas. >> it moves crimes from one place to another. >> reporter: drug dealing is down but homicides have climbed after a year in one area. >> it has been touted as a measure to stop violent crime. it hasn't. >> reporter: but oakland police chief tony batts has been a big supporter of the ban and other councilmembers could challenge brooks tonight. >> stop the injunction received an email from city council member saying i'm in favor of left the injunction take effect. i don't see great potential for harm and i do see potential for reducing criminal activity. but walton sees the potential for racial profiling. she believes there is a fighting chance to end it tonight. >> we are hopeful they will start to listen to the voices of community members. >> reporter: and again that meeting will start at 7:00 tonight. five votes needed in order to cut off funding. it may not happen tonight. but city officials tell me they hope if it doesn't, this will come up again for another vote. live in oakland, christin ayers, cbs 5. surprise testimony delayed closing arguments in the yusef bey murder trial today. bey's co-defendant antoine mackey unexpectedly took the stand. he said he had no involvement in the 2007 murder of oakland journalist chauncey bailey or two other murders. prosecutors say he was the getaway driver in bailey's murder. bey, the ex-leader of "your black muslim bakery," is accused of ordering the murder. the wet weather that's returned keeping some san pablo neighbors on edge tonight. homeowners say they are still in danger six months after rains drove mud down the san pablo hillside. despite the renewed threat, the san pablo city council met last night to consider rescinding its emergency declaration. that would mean homeowners would no longer be eligible for state and federal money. >> public facilities have to be threatened and with the significant period of dry weather, prior to these rains, and the relative stability of the situation out on the hillside, it was difficult to justify continuing the state of emergency. >> the city council is expected to make its final decision on june 6. and it was gray skies scattered showers for most of the bay area today. but some heavier rain in areas made roads very slick for drivers. how long will we have to wait for more sunshine? [ male announcer ] only at&t u-verse lets you follow your favorite channels on one screen. just $29 a month for the first six months -- dvr included. in the network there are no hard choices. starting line of stage two. bu f well, snow cancels stage one and changed the starting line of stage 2 but today the amgen tour of california got back on track with stage 3 going from auburn to modesto. now, tomorrow, cyclists wheel their way here into the bay area. len ramirez shows us how livermore prepartying. >> reporter: they are calling it bike night and they are going to let people celebrate bikes. getting a start city status in a grand tour like the amgen tour of california is a big deal because people throughout the world -- because cycle something a popular sport throughout the world -- will be reading about livermore, california in their morning pages. folks around here are very excited about that. in downtown livermore, anyone can see that the bike race is good for business. >> we have done a drive through for the amgen tour a few times. this is our first time being a start stage. so very exciting for us to have a chance to be in the international spotlight here in downtown. >> reporter: the amgen tour of california bike race is coming to town starting on the downtown's main street. the route will take the riders out of town into the hills of mount hamilton but not before passing the area's picturesque wineries and downtown shops. >> lighter than my bike... >> reporter: today shop keepers were busy sprucing up their stores and in the case of first street wines, showing off the latest vintage, a special blend made up just for the tour. anything special in it that the cyclists would like? >> well, let's see. 49% merlot, 49% cabernet franc, 1% cabernet sauvignon and 1% petite bordeaux. it's a bordeaux blend. >> reporter: just don't drink and ride. but you can, and thousands will, watch the race for free. >> i watched the tour de france and i got kind of hooked by watching that. >> reporter: what's it like to have those same riders come through your town? >> oh, it's very exciting because it's like we're part of the big world instead of just a little small community. >> reporter: tomorrow's stage is an 81-mile stage. they will start off here in downtown livermore, do a couple of laps around the downtown, and then head up mines road going up the back side of mount hamilton all the way down into san jose again. then for the first time ever a mountaintop finish atop sierra road. should be a very exciting stage tomorrow. reporting live in livermore, len ramirez, cbs 5. holiday travelers should expect bay bridge delays over memorial day weekend. eastbound drivers will center to take a detour near the toll plaza in oakland. the alternate route will allow caltrans to construct some temporary lanes and then build a connection to the new bay bridge now under construction. and the agency says it's not an easy process. we have to completely replace this eastern span and in some cases put the new bridge in the exact same footprint as the existing bridge while 280,000 vehicles go across it every day. >> the work will not require closure of the bridge itself, but it will allow caltrans to open the new bridge to traffic ahead of schedule. other bay area headlines, catching a cab in san francisco is about to get more expensive. today muni approved raising fares by 50 cents a mile and 10 cents for time stuck in traffic. the starting rate is going up 40 cents to $3.50. a fuel surcharge and a fee of up to $3 for dispatch requests were rejected. dog owners in contra costa county want to keep a tighter leash on their pets. today the board of supervisors unanimously passed an ordinance that requires any dog impounded twice in three years be spayed or neutered before being returned to its owner. the county will also implant an identification microchip in the dog. owners will have to pay for all of it. the rules take effect mid-june. next, how the downward dog and salutation are helping couples conceive. >> then punished for a good old- fashioned food fight. the slight change of heart by one bay area dean. how about falling victim to fashion literally? where some models took a spill on the catwalk. oh, it's easy to slip in these kind of conditions. the roads are wet, the sidewalks are wet. when the bay area going to dry out. we'll have the pinpoint forecast as eyewitness news continues on cbs 5. scrambling to fill out applications for summer jobs. it's about that time many teens are scrambling to fill out applications for summer jobs. >> it's tough getting a job if you don't have the experience. on the consumerwatch, julie watts with kids paying to earn the experience needed. >> reporter: without any work experience, this 13-year-old knows getting her first job won't be easy. >> i want to grow more leadership skills and more patience. >> reporter: so the soon-to-be freshman signed up to be a camp counselor with the city of concord. >> i really like working with kids so i thought it was a good opportunity. >> reporter: but unlike most summer jobs, where kids make money, key hani is paying for the privilege to work $360. >> as a teenager when you're looking for a job when you want to have something to put down on your application, this is experience that will look great on a resume'. >> reporter: recreational managers say the fee is used to operate the six-week program where counselors in train like key annie work side by side by more paid camp counselors like this high school senior who completed the program three years ago. >> it was extremely worth it. it's such a great opportunity to be able to come out and learn and be in the field and get the critique and hope you learn how to do everything and at some point take over and help work with the kids. >> reporter: but is paying to work really fair? >> this is a legitimate way to get a leg up. that is something that i'm very supportive of. >> reporter: this career and education advisor says programs like these teach kids much- needed skills and take the place of other summer activities they would likely pay for anyway. a good option for kids too old to go to camp and too young to be a paid counselor. >> it gives them an opportunity to develop leadership, coordination skills, dealing with bureaucracy in a pleasant environment. it's important for higher level jobs. >> it will look good on the resume' and you never know what to expect it. >> reporter: now, programs like these are offered throughout the bay area at various camps and even swim programs and just like a real job, teens need to apply and go through the interview process to. get more information, we have posted a link on our website, cbssf.com/consumer. and remember, if you have a consumer story idea, call us at 1-888-5-helps-u. hayward high schoolers involved in last week's food fight will learn a lesson in hunger. the seniors at leadership public high who flung food around the cafeteria cannot participate in traditional fun events at year's ends including a trip to disneyland. instead, they will have to do community service like volunteer at a food bank or similar organization. but the school dean is easing the punishment to let students go to prom and the graduation ceremony. all right. you look at the calendar, of course it says may. but doesn't it feel more like january?
