I just talked to their captain who has been with them tonight at the hospital ever since they left here. Theyre being checked out for broken bones and internal injuries and certainly they are banged up after this crash on a routine ride. News chopper2 was over head at the time of this collision. Reporter the woman in the suv was sober and cooperative and after questioning she was allowed to drive away but that wont be the end of it. There were some distractions that were involved and thats what the california patrol is looking into. We dont know whether its phone or gps device. Some kind of device inside the car. Across the bay a Fremont Police car was involved in an accident with a female motorcycles who also works for the department. It happened on fremont boulevard shortly before 4 00 this afternoon. The womans name has not been released but were told she was seriously injured and has worked for the department for 18 years. Her motorcycle hit a pickup then collided with the patrol car. Heres a photo sent by a ktvu viewer. The motorcyclists was the only person hurt. Officers say she is expected to survive. Reporter governor jerry brown is promising to sign legislation that would allow undocumented immigrants to obtain a california drivers license. The bill was sent to the governor late last night after being approved by lawmakers. The goal is to strengthen the rights of immigrants in california. It also includes some provisions. We caught up with governor brown. California recognizes these human beings are very important to our community, to our economy, and hopefully the people in washington will get the message. California is not the first to pass this type of legislation, nine states and the District Of Columbia currently issue drivers license to unlicensed immigrants. While the governor was here he signed an agreement that boosts cooperation between california and china on climate change. Chinese and California Energy and officials plan to Work Together to find ways to share low carbon technology. Governor brown has a long list of bills now waiting for a signature. We broke this story on wednesday, you recall drivers were complaining that the new lights could be blinding. The led lights are said to use 60 less electricity than the old lights and last five times longer. But caltrans says they take a few weeks to burn in to a less intense level. So until that happens, caltrans has turned off some of the lights inside the turn to reduce some of the destruction on drivers. Itll be the first anti war protest to take place on the new eastern span. The protest is set to begin at 1 00 tomorrow afternoon and last for about an hour. I dont want them witnessing violent acts. Some where where its supposed to be safe. I dont remember having anything like this happen in the library and ive been here for five years.
