Research shows that 44 veterans die each day as a result of suicide or self-injury. At ViVE 2024, Shereef Elnahal, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ under secretary for health, declared that even one veteran dying by suicide is too many — and promised that the VA is pursuing partnerships aimed at addressing this harrowing problem.
