Deep in the folds of the San Gabriel Mountains, five miles from the nearest paved road, stands the Bridge to Nowhere. It’s sturdy enough to have lasted 85 years, strange enough to draw crowds and start arguments. Especially lately. To reach it, park at the end of Camp Bonita Road near LaVerne and start walking along the East Fork of the San Gabriel River, with steep slopes rising on either side.
