Joe RaedleGetty Images One unfortunate consequence of the conservative movement's descent into nihilism and madness is that it has produced increasingly mediocre "stars" who distinguish themselves only by their willingness to behave more shamelessly than everyone else. It's enough to make you yearn for the days of Paul Ryan, who at least rose to prominence by tricking Beltway types into thinking his customer service for plutocrats, chock full of discredited economics and bad math, was actually a wonky platform rooted in a coherent philosophy of government. Now we're subjected to the grotesque stylings of Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who don't seem to have any policy proposals at all, at least as far as they relate to actual problems this country faces.
