Company spokesperson Deana Percassi shared the news in a one-sentence email early Wednesday morning: “In accordance with the latest CDC guidance, fully vaccinated customers are no longer required to wear a face covering in our stores,” she wrote. The news comes after the Tops Friendly Markets announced it was making masks optional for fully vaccinated shoppers, in keeping with new guidelines issued last Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s announcement on Monday that, beginning Wednesday, fully vaccinated state residents no longer would be required to wear masks in most settings, including indoors.
