Orsted and PSEG joint venture Ocean Wind and fabricator EEW have broken ground on New Jersey’s first offshore wind manufacturing facility, which, when complete, will supply monopiles to the 1100MW Ocean Wind project off the southern coast of the US state. In December 2020, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced a $250m (€208m) investment in the new monopile manufacturing facility located at the Paulsboro Marine Terminal. Construction of the facility will be completed under a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) with the South Jersey Building Trades Council. This will ensure that jobs created during the construction phase will be filled by local New Jersey union tradesmen and women who will use the highest level of industry standards, according to Orsted.
