Now that President Biden’s administration has thrown its support behind a wind farm off the coast of New Jersey – and similar ones from Massachusetts to North Carolina it’s clear turbines twice the size of the Statue of Liberty are about to rise in the Atlantic at a pace we never have seen. Earlier this spring, the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management announced the formal environmental .
Orsted and PSEG joint venture Ocean Wind and fabricator EEW have broken ground on New Jersey’s first offshore wind manufacturing facility, which, when complete, will supply monopiles to the 1100MW Ocean Wind project off the southern coast of the US state.
In December 2020, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced a $250m (€208m) investment in the new monopile manufacturing facility located at the Paulsboro Marine Terminal.
Construction of the facility will be completed under a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) with the South Jersey Building Trades Council.
This will ensure that jobs created during the construction phase will be filled by local New Jersey union tradesmen and women who will use the highest level of industry standards, according to Orsted.

”Positioning New Jersey as a national leader in the offshore wind industry and developing our offshore wind capabilities have been key priorities of my Administration since day one,” said Governor
Phil Murphy.
”As the largest industrial offshore wind investment in the United States to date, the Paulsboro Marine Terminal will be a significant driving force for the state’s economy and create hundreds of good-paying, union jobs to South Jersey. Offshore wind is a once-in-a-generation opportunity, and today’s groundbreaking signals a monumental step forward in propelling New Jersey’s clean energy economy for generations to come.”
South Jersey Building Trades union tapped for $250M offshore wind hub April 19, 2021

The South Jersey Building Trades Council said April 19 it is being tapped for the construction of a $250 million offshore wind manufacturing hub based in Paulsboro along the Delaware River, as it formally embarks on the construction of the sprawling South Jersey operation.
Once completed, the Camden County facility at the Paulsboro Marine Terminal would produce the steel components of wind turbines, known as monopiles, that hoist up the structure of the turbine.
The site was announced in December as part of an agreement between Danish offshore wind company Ørsted and German pipe manufacturer the EEW Group, who will base their operations out of the port.
