Biden s executive orders are expected to set the stage for his presidency by reinforcing his belief that the federal government should make it easier - not harder - for people to get health care.
According to documents obtained by The Hill, Biden will sign executive orders Thursday that take steps to strengthen Medicaid and initiate an open enrollment period under the ACA. ....

Trump administration gives Medicaid gift to Florida
January 22, 2021 at 1:25 PM EST - Updated January 22 at 1:25 PM
Former President Donald Trump s administration gave Florida’s health-care system one last parting gift before he left office Wednesday to return to his adopted home state.
The Trump administration last week agreed to extend a waiver for Florida s Medicaid program and $1.5 billion in supplemental funding each year until June 2030, which means the move would outlast newly installed President Joe Biden.
Continuing this essential program means Floridians will have access to quality health care when they need it, Gov. Ron DeSantis, a close political ally of Trump, said in a statement praising the decision by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. ....

Biden's bipartisan skills, ability to work with McConnell are key to presidency

The adage that once defined American politics, Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line, is no more. Today, rank‐and‐file Republicans aren t even sure where to stand, let alone line up. Trumpism and the politics of chaos have fractured the GOP.
But despite the mess that has overtaken the Republicans, President Joe Biden must still work across the aisle in the Senate to try and pass his ambitious agenda. He must work with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, despite the Republican leader s long record of obstructionism. Biden must bridge the divide that derailed the Obama White House agenda.  ....
