New Delhi [India], May 26 (ANI): Around 300 students of Class XII on Tuesday sent a letter petition to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana to quash the decision of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to conduct physical examination amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The students asked the top court to direct the Central government to provide alternative assessment scheme to the students.
This comes days after a high-level meeting chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reached a consensus on conduct of board exams. However, the government had sought a detailed list of suggestions from all the states. ....

Around 300 students of Class XII on Tuesday sent a letter petition to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana to quash the decision of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to conduct physical examination amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The students asked the top court to direct the Central government to provide alternative assessment scheme to the students.
This comes days after a high-level meeting chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reached a consensus on conduct of board exams. However, the government had sought a detailed list of suggestions from all the states.
The CBSE Class XII examination is likely to be conducted and its date and format to be announced by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on May 30, according to sources. ....

CBSE Class 12 Board: ABVP writes to Education Minister, suggests open book exams, other alternatives
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has submitted a memorandum to Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, suggesting options including open book tests for Class 12 board students. The development comes days after Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level meeting to discuss various proposals with the states, in the presence of state education ministers and officials, besides Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Prakash Javadekar and Smriti Irani. A decision will be announced on or by June 1, 2021. 
Central govt as well as state govts must consider the security and future of the students before holding the Class 12 exams that are pending due to the COVID-19 pandemic. West Bengal s former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who had tested positive for COVID-19 last week, was admitted at a private hospital in south Kolkata on Tuesday after his health condition deteriorated, officials said.
Later in the afternoon, his wife Mira Bhattacharjee, who was discharged from the facility on Monday after she had recovered from coronavirus, was rushed to the medical establishment following a panic attack, they said. ....
