Lohan and Curtis in 2003 — Gregg DeGuire/WireImageWhile deals are being worked out to get the movie's eager stars to return, Disney has hired Nisha Ganatra to direct a sequel to the 2003 hit Freaky Friday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Both Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan have expressed interest in reprising their respective mother-daughter roles in the body-swap comedy's sequel. In the meantime, the veteran of Hulu's Welcome to Chippendales series has gotten the tap from ABC News' parent company, according to the trade. That said, Curtis and Lohan have already reunited -- at least in a photo on Instagram. The Everything Everywhere Academy Award winner on Friday uploaded a selfie with Irish Wish star Lohan, along with the caption "DUH! FFDEUX!" If the photo was meant to light a fire under the studio to get the deals done, it was a savvy move: The post got more than 220,000 likes in a matter of hours.Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. RB/Bauer-Griffin/GC ImagesKeanu Reeves knows his way around a martial arts mat, what with his extensive training for The Matrix and John Wick franchises, and now he's about to pay tribute to a groundbreaker within the combat sports.Deadline reports Reeves and Oscar-winning director Fisher Stevens will co-produce a documentary on Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, who is credited with introducing mixed martial arts to the world. Now 71, Urquidez was a world champion karate and kickboxing legend who transitioned to training actors and coordinating fight scenes for movies. Incidentally, John Cusack was one of his students, and Urquidez takes him on in a famous scene in the actor's 1997's hit Grosse Pointe Blank. But Urquidez's client list reads like a Hollywood's who's who: Everyone from Jackie Chan to the late Patrick Swayze to Michelle Pfeiffer trained with him over his long career. Emmy-nominated sports documentary editor and filmmaker Jennifer Tiexiera is directing the documentary. She tells the trade, "Benny’s fighting career was born out of his struggles with identity, poverty, and race, but he didn't let those things define him. The result is a story about how struggle and sacrifice evolved into one about love, spirituality and deeper meaning."Keanu recently appeared in and produced another documentary, Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story, which is streaming on Hulu.Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. She chose Taylor Swift songs, Billboard reports. “My two daughters are huge Taylor Swift fans, and so am I. I hear her music 24 hours a day, in my car, in my house. Billie Eilish, 'Barbie' star America Ferrra & FINNEAS; Disney/Chris WillardAt the Oscars on March 10, Billie Eilish and her brother and collaborator FINNEAS delivered a simple, touching rendition of their Best Original Song nominee, "What Was I Made For?" from Barbie. On the red carpet ahead of the show, Billie said the most important thing about the performance was that people really focus on the words of the song, and she and FINNEAS made sure of that. He played an upright piano while she stood at a microphone, wearing an oversize black tweed jacket, long straight skirt and Mary Janes, and gave an emotional performance, with her eyes closed. As the platform the siblings stood on rotated slowly, the pink backdrop behind them opened up to reveal an entire orchestra, raised on a platform high above them, playing along. The performance earned a standing ovation, and Billie and FINNEAS embraced at the end.If Billie and FINNEAS win Best Original Song, they'll be the only people to have won two Oscars before the age of 30. They previously won the Best Original Song trophy for their James Bond theme, "No Time to Die."Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.

Disney/Scott KirklandEmma Stone picked up her second Oscar for Best Actress Sunday night for her role as Bella Baxter in director Yorgos Lanthimos’ film Poor Things. Her speech got off to a funny start, with Emma acknowledging her broken dress, noting she thought it happened during “I’m Just Ken," the show-stopping number by her La La Land co-star Ryan Gosling. She then acknowledged the five Best Actress winners who announced the nominees, last year’s winner Michelle Yeoh, Sally Field, Charlize Theron, Jessica Lange and Jennifer Lawrence.  She then turned to her fellow nominees, Annette Bening, Sandra Hüller, Carey Mulligan and Lily Gladstone.“I share this with you. I am in awe of you and it has been such an honor to do all of this together,” Stone said through tears. “I hope we get to keep doing more together.” She then recalled some advice she got from her director ahead of the show.“The other night I was panicking ... that maybe something like this could happen and Yorgos said to me, 'Please take yourself out of it,'” she said. “And he was right because it’s not about me, it’s about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts and that is the best part about making movies.” The Best Actress category was considered one of the few tight races of the evening as many experts suggested it could go to either Stone or Gladstone, who already won the Golden Globe, BAFTA and the Screen Actors Guild awards for Killers of the Flower Moon.Emma previously won Best Actress for 2016’s La La Land and was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Birdman and The Favourite. She was also nominated this year for producing Poor Things.Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.
