B.C. restricts workers ages 14 to 15 to 'light work' to keep them safe on the job

The rules follow changes to the Employment Standards Act passed in spring 2019, and will come into effect on Oct. 15, giving employers and young workers time to adjust, said Labour Minister Harry Bains. “Work experience should be a rewarding growth opportunity for young people but it should never compromise their safety,” he said.
Light work includes coaching, retail duties such as stocking shelves, setting up displays, sales and working as a cashier. Young people can bus tables, prepare and serve food and non-alcoholic drinks, lifeguard, garden, cut grass, harvest by hand, and do light farm and yard work.
They can be golf caddies, camp counsellors and computer programmers, and perform skilled and technical work.

Kemnal Park: Memorial pieces dumped on bench by cemetery

Memorial pieces left on the graves of beloved family members were dumped on a bench after they were banned by Chislehurst cemetery.
Molly Elizabeth Eley, 22, laid the ashes of 67-year-old gran, Lesley Haddock, to rest in Kemnal Park alongside her grandad last October after she died from a stroke.
The family has had “nothing but aggravation” since, battling with staff over what they can and cannot place on their plot.
On Sunday, Ms Eley arrived to find a pile of memorial pieces scattered randomly around a bench.
Ms Eley, a Greenwich-based gas industry worker, said: “It is absolutely disgusting behaviour.
