45 year old Richard James wasso is in county jail tonight. A minor says wasson molested her and then tried to kill her. Some people we talked to recognized him. Johnny santos resident hes a local that hangs out in front of the market once in a while, tells everybody to get to work when he sees them. Thank god the police did their job. I mean that guy doesnt belong out here. They also said wasson is part of a larger issue in Bethel Island. That the small town of only a few thousand people has a disproprtionate amount of sex offenders. Our search revealed at least 15 sex offenders on the island. Kelly burns resident the county sends the child molesters out to Bethel Island and im not sure why. Its very isolated and theres a lot of drug use out here and they get more into drugs.
