New Milford Police say a man killed his own mother. They say Eric Meagan then reported himself to police on Monday. Meagan has now been arrested and he is charged with murder after being taken into custody yesterday. Police said it all started when they received a call at 8:25am Monday from a man who said he had just killed his mother next to the Still River near Harrybrooke Park. That man turned out to be Meagan, who police say stayed on the phone and gave them his location. He is now being held on $2 Million bond and facing charges in connection with the slaying of 56 year old Victoria Palme...

Newtown Pride FC has won the inaugural edition of The Soccer Tournament with a 2-0 victory over SLC FC in the championship game. That means they bring home the $1 million prize after the four-day tournament held at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. The tournament featured amateur domestic teams and teams representing well-known clubs from around the world. Newtown Pride FC is based in Sandy Hook, and they usually play in the Connecticut Soccer League.

The Connecticut Office of Early Childhood has completed the distribution of $70 million in state funding that was allocated in the most recently enacted state budget for bonus payments to the staff of child care and early childhood education providers statewide in Connecticut. The initiative, known as Wage Supports for Early Childhood Educators, is intended to help stabilize the child care industry and support its workforce. Approximately 21,000 early childhood educators and staff statewide are receiving the bonus payments.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be sending more than $1.3 million to the State of Connecticut to reimburse it for the cost of steps taken to open several temporary hospitals to handle what was then the expected overflow caused by COVID-19 patients during the pandemic. The FEMA Public Assistance grant will reimburse the Connecticut Department of Corrections for the cost of setting up four temporary hospitals at Stamford Hospital; the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford; Western Connecticut State University in Danbury; and Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.
