[ cheers and applause ] if you look at the whole year as theater, as real acts of tragedy, theres an almost poetic feeling to it. 1968 was one god damn thing after another. Hardly a day goes by without a new report of another demonstration or protest against the vietnam war. There is, in the land, a certain restlessness.
