Richard Hunt, a legendary Chicago sculpture who welded steel to honor Black history, has died at 88.
The sculptor, who was committed to civil rights, recently completed a monument to Emmett Till
Richard Hunt, a descendant of enslaved people who in the last half of the twentieth century rose to become the world’s preeminent African American abstract sculptor, died on December 16 at his home in Chicago.
