welcome to bbc news now, 3 hours of fast moving news, interviews and reaction. we begin with a dramatic volcano eruption in iceland, which is sending lava spewing hundreds of metres into the sky. let s take you straight to these live pictures from south western iceland as the volcano continues to spew jets of molten lava from a crack in the earth that s now several kilometres long. the area is a volcanic and seismic hot spot, not far from the capital, reykyavik. experts say the eruption could last weeks or maybe even months. this is the moment the volcano erupted late on monday, captured on webcam by the icelandic broadcaster ruv, as smoke and fiery lava lit up the night sky. and look at these pictures, caught by an eyewitness from their phone as they were driving past the volcano. very dramatic indeed. scientists are continuing to monitor the explosion from the air and land. they had predicted an eruption after detecting intense seismic activity over the past few weeks
