In his report on Monday, Col. Charlie Cabradilla, acting provincial director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, said operatives of Balagtas Municipal Police Station conducted an operation in Barangay Santol that resulted in the arrest of Mark Lambert Bhobe, 31, a resident of Meycuayan City, and Angelo Llagas, 27, of the City of San Jose del Monte, this province. Seized from the two suspects were 81 pieces of dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops weighing 81 kilograms and with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of PHP9.7 million and PHP5,000 marked money. Appropriate charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) are being readied against the two suspects for court referral. Meanwhile, five other drug suspects were arrested Sunday in separate operations in this province. Cabradilla identified them as Jose Oliver Mercado, a resident of Barangay Malipampang, San Ildefonso; Jonathan Villafuerte of Barangay Maasim, San Ildefonso; Gemar Naliatan of Barangay Niugan, Angat; Arnold Zaldy Talastas Jr. of Binang 2nd, Bocaue; and Benjie Agbay of Barangay Inaon, Pulilan town. A total of 10 sachets of suspected shabu, two sachets of dried marijuana leaves, and buy-bust money were confiscated during the operations. Brig. Gen. PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said on Sunday that he ordered a continued investigation to build an airtight case against the suspect, Gaspar Maneja Jr., alias Jose Francisco Santos, who was nabbed following a joint manhunt operation of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-5) and personnel of Bulacan Police Provincial Office in Barangay Veneracion, Pamplona, Camarines Sur last Aug. 18. "Our personnel don't sleep on cases. They make sure that they are built on strong information gathering to search and arrest the perpetrator of the crime. Following this is the filing of necessary charges against an arrested suspect," Azurin said in a statement. The suspect was positively recognized by witnesses as the last known companion of the victim whose body was discovered in a grassy area of a bypass road in Barangay Bonga Menor, Bustos, this province last Aug. 12, two days after she went missing. Further investigation revealed that the suspect has three outstanding warrants of arrest for violation of Republic Act 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act (Anti-Child Abuse Law); and rape with no bail recommended. Criminal complaints of rape, homicide and using a fictitious name were filed against the suspect before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in this city under Senior Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Catherine E. In his report, Col. Charlie Cabradilla, acting director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, identified the slain rebel as Jovel Agudez of the Komiteng Larangan Guerilla (KLG) - Narciso. Cabradilla said that based on the information given by the Philippine Army's 70th Infantry Battalion (70IB), a gunfight ensued between the KLG-Narciso combatants and joint elements of Intel Platoon 70IB, Alpha Company 70IB, together with the 1st and 2nd Bulacan Provincial Mobile Force companies, City of San Jose Del Monte (CSJDM) Police Station, and 33rd Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 (Central Luzon) in Sitio Katorse, Barangay Kaybanban, City of San Jose Del Monte. The report did not indicate the number of fighters encountered by the joint military and police team. Recovered by the government troops from the clash site were a cal. 5.56 gun loaded with ammunition, subversive documents, and personal belongings. Cabradilla added that the CSJDM Police Station, together with the Bulacan Provincial Forensic Unit, secured and processed the encounter site. He said the provincial police and the 70IB will continuously and relentlessly intensify their internal security operations against the communist group "to ensure that they cannot launch atrocities in the community."
