Reporter just about 90 minutes ago, the coast guard called off the search for those two teen boys because of the darkness and family members arrived here at the beach about 8 00, understandably devastated by what happened. San francisco fire says that this was group of five teenage boys from vallejo, three 18 yearolds and two 17yearolds. They went into waist deep water, logging arms because at least two of them could not swim. The rip currents and surf he very strong here and the current changed while the boys were in the water and at that point, all five were in dissuppress. The three 18yearolds were able to make it back to shore but the two 17yearold were not. They were carried away by the current and disappeared. The coast guard searched an a

Late this afternoon the command post came down late this evening, rather, and a lot of the search activity we saw earlier it rapped up this evening. And two responders were shaken up as the two teens swept away were not found. Word went out to their families that arrived on scene. We indicated to them what our course of action will be and that will be suspending this search at dark. It was just before 4 30 when distress calls came in. Five boys at waist deep water were swept out to sea. Three of the boys were able to self rescue and came back into shore and two were not, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the families. Firefighters say one 17yearold and two 18yearolds were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition, and many came out to just enjoy the warm weather. They were very distressed and in shock.
