A plea for help to keep streets lit in Harlowe meets success.

HARLOWE — A plea for funds has gotten a good response and the lights in Harlowe will stay on.
Driven by the 2019 bicycling death of Kevin Godette along the unlit Temples Point Road, which connects the Harlowe community to Highway 101, Rufus Carter set up an account with Carteret-Craven Electrical Cooperative to place several streetlights along the stretch of road.
For a year he covered the roughly $65 a month charge himself but said he could not afford to keep doing so. If no one came forward to help, he told the Sun Journal on February 12, the. Lights would go out at the end of his contract, on March 18.
