The Festival of Breaking Fast - Eid-ul-Fitr - will be celebrated across the European continent, including the United Kingdom, on Thursday, May 13, the central moon-sighting committee UK announced on Wednesday.
"The holy month of Ramazan will have full 30 days," Islam Ali Shah, the organiser of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee UK, said. "The Moon of Shawwal was not sighted in Eruope and Britain. Hence, the Islamic month of Shawwal will begin on Thursday, May 13."
Eid-ul-Fitr 1442 will be observed across Europe and the UK on May 13, said Islam Ali Shah.
Meanwhile, the Central Hilal Committee of North America has asked the Muslims to continue with their fasting until an announcement is made.

The Muslims in the United Kingdom and Europe will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Thursday, the central moon-sighting committee UK announced on Wednesday.

ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) meeting will take place today in the capital to sight the Shawwal moon.
The meeting will take place in Islamabad under the chair of RHC Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, as per an earlier statement of the committee.
The meetings of zonal committees would take place in their respective areas, while the central committee would gather witnesses from across the country.
Azad has earlier stated his resolve to ensure that Eid is celebrated on the same day throughout Pakistan.

Eid al-Fitr in the U.S. begins on May 13 in 2021, advises the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) and the Central Hilal Committee of North America (CHC).
Eid al-Fitr (also written as Eid ul-Fitr) is a festival that marks the breaking of the fasting period observed during Ramadan, a holy month of fasting and prayer for Muslims that began on April 12 this year. It also marks the start of the next lunar month known as Shawwal in Arabic.
The start date of Eid al-Fitr, which varies across the world each year, is "declared after another crescent new moon has been sighted or the completion of 30 days of fasting if no visual sighting is possible due to weather conditions," the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) explains.
