The Daily Jeffersonian A West Virginia man is facing a felony drug charge after approximately 105 grams of suspected methamphetamine was found by State Highway Patrol troopers during a probable cause search last month on Interstate 77. Harry A. Neal Jr., 56, of Leon, W.Va., has been charged with one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony filed through the Cambridge Municipal Court. The case was later bound over to the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court after Neal waived his right to a preliminary hearing in the lower court. An arraignment hearing is pending in the common pleas court. Neal remains incarcerated in the Guernsey County Jail on a $100,000 bond with no 10% allowed set during his initial court appearance.
Local News Briefs: Carpenter wins Franklin B. Walter Award Staff Report Carpenter wins Franklin B. Walter Award Laney Carpenter recently won the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award for Guernsey County from the Ohio Educational Service Center Association. The Cambridge High School senior is the daughter of Aaron and Audra Carpenter of Cambridge. She plans to attend Marietta College and study accounting. The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award was established in 1989 by Ohio's County Superintendents to recognize student achievement and promote academic accomplishment. Only one senior from each of Ohio's eighty-eight counties is chosen to receive this honor each year. The recipients are the top scholars in their class.
