Local News Briefs: Carpenter wins Franklin B. Walter Award Staff Report Carpenter wins Franklin B. Walter Award Laney Carpenter recently won the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award for Guernsey County from the Ohio Educational Service Center Association. The Cambridge High School senior is the daughter of Aaron and Audra Carpenter of Cambridge. She plans to attend Marietta College and study accounting. The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award was established in 1989 by Ohio s County Superintendents to recognize student achievement and promote academic accomplishment. Only one senior from each of Ohio s eighty-eight counties is chosen to receive this honor each year. The recipients are the top scholars in their class. ....
