Philly's 2023 James Beard Award winners are High Street Hospitality's Ellen Yin, restaurant Friday Saturday Sunday and Kalaya Thai Kitchen's chef Chutatip 'Nok' Suntaranon. Yin, owner of Fork and other city restaurants, won outstanding restauranteur. Friday Saturday Sunday won outstanding restaurant, Suntaranon won best chef in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The semifinalist nominees for the 2023 James Beard Awards include a total of 18 chefs and restaurants from the Philadelphia region. Among them are Ellen Yin of High Street Hospitality, Heavy Metal Sausage Co. on South Philly, Friday Saturday Saturday in Rittenhouse Square, and Amanda Schulman of Her Place Supper Club.
Chef Eli Kulp's Delicious City, along with Avram Hornik's Philly Independent Productions, are celebrating Philadelphia's food and music scene with a new summer concert series they're calling “Philly Grown,” which will take place every Tuesday night from July 5th through August 30th at Liberty Point, the new 1,400 seat restaurant at 211 S. Columbus Blvd. set on the Delaware River Waterfront.
