WASHINGTON, D.C. – Neil Bradley, Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement today regarding the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project receiving $1.64 billion in funding.“As part of the U.S. Chamber’s decades-long push to enact a historic infrastructure bill, we launched a successful campaign in February 2021 highlighting the failing Brent Spence Bridge as the type of project that demanded Congress's attention. The approximately 60-year-old bridge over which 3% of our nation's GDP passes each year has become a notorious chokepoint for commerce, workers, and families. "Today, $1.64 billion in funding has been awarded to turn decades of infrastructure promises into reality. The Chamber applauds President Biden, Leader McConnell and the other Republican and Democratic elected officials who made today's announcement possible and who are helping move our nation forward. Today’s announcement was also made possible by the sustained advocacy efforts of many state and local chambers in the region including the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, and the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.“The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is an excellent case study of how bipartisanship can lead to progress on big initiatives.
