Cuba's Raul Castro steps down, ending the period of his well-known clan on the nation's helm - US Politics Today

Things have not worked out exactly according to Castro’s plan.
As Castro announced he was stepping down on Friday, his country is deep in crisis. The tourism-dependent island has been battered by the pandemic; the economy shrunk at least 11% in 2020 according to government estimates. Cubans each day spend hours in long lines to find increasingly scarce food, medicine and other necessities.
With then-US President Barack Obama, Castro mended long fraught US-Cuban relations, only to see those ties blown up again under the Trump administration which enacted some of the toughest economic penalties on the island in decades.
But so far, current President Joe Biden has been reluctant to engage with the communist-run island despite the most significant change in leadership in Cuba in decades. ....

The Kay County town of Tonkawa is headquarters for the Tonkawa Tribe of Oklahoma, where a museum preserves the tribeâs cultural heritage. This is the site of its former reservation and land allotted to 73 individual tribal members in 1891.
Later governed by a single chief, the Tonkawa people were originally a matrilineal society of extended family clans forming two moieties. Today, tribal matters are guided by a three-member committee elected biannually. ....

In 2001, Auckland hip-hop artist Che-Fu got a call from one of the biggest names in the business.
I have a lot of keepsakes that are more personal, but this is significant to me because
of the unbelievability of being on a record with Wu-Tang Clan. I m still a bit humbled by it all.
Careful (Click, Click) Brown Panthers Mix was released in 2001 on 12-inch, and there are probably only about 20 copies in New Zealand. It s a little token that symbolises the work I was doing in this art form of hip-hop music at a time when it was still trying to break here. I felt vindicated getting the nod from the big homies. ....
