Id like to start this interview by talking about you. I was talking a little more about you but i like the audience to start off honestly in your introduction. You got a note from a professor i believe saying youd never be apolitical scientist, can you talk about that . I put that in the book is i wanted to major in college and it was really torn between going into science and going into the humanities and social science and i finally decided on social science because i found those questions much more interesting and engaging and urgent for me. And in my Political Science course we read all these great political philosophers on up and they were all asking the question what is justice, what is good government, how can you organize government and organize society to make life better for people and particularly to make justice. It is an honor to stand before you today as they 57th governor of the great state of missouri. Some point in our lives many of us have probably been reminded of the importance of considering the past when making decisions for the future. It also seems fitting that such a historic milestone, missouris bicentennial celebration, coincides with these challenges. Missouri is seen difficult days in the past 200 years from the civil war and the Great Depression womens suffrage, civil rights, through it all missouri has prevailed . Our nation is when it comes to these challenges, this is unique. And the calls for unique leadership. There are a lot of critics of the United States congress andea for goodt reason. But i think what we demonstrate in the last several weeks since weve addressed this coronavirus is that there is a capacity for common sense, bipartisan work, and the timeliness that is essential. The first two measures were passed in record time, one for 8 billion that really opened the door for more medical resources. The second or 100 billion which tried to guarantee the people that would never have to pay to be tested for coronavirus, that would be adequate Food Supplies during this calamitous time, that we would have resources sent to the states for medicaid reimbursement at new levels, that we wouldpl also engage peoe with family leave if necessary so that they can stay out of the workplace that they felt badly, and that we also have an idea that we would come together as a nation to move Unemploymen

They take our money and then, you know, there was a book a long time ago by sinclair called the ugly american. Getting spiritual in getting authentic and believing ourselves, we are the lifeblood, those of us. That is why i love the way he is about our veterans. Millionshese countries and billions of dollars and then send our beautiful children over there to either die or come back in pieces. That has never made any sense to me. I dont paint attention to the polls. They live. I dont know why we celebrate ourselves just separate ourselves and call ourselves liberal this and that. The reality is, when our country started, George Washington did not know how to be president. This has all been new. We continue to reinvent ourselves.
