Commissioner. she wrote, the american people and foreign money is not being used to sway how american citizens vote. this is unacceptable. it s within the power of this commission to provide this assurance. it s our duty. on september 28th, she sent the commissioner a proposed rule to combat foreign influence and this week, weintraub laid down another marker, issuing a memo to the gridlock commission stating this is an all-hands on deck moment for our democracy. even quoting dick cheney when he said it s an act of war. she called on the u.s. government to exercise every scrap of its jurisdiction possible to tackle foreign m meddling. the fact is it s normal for the foreign policy to combat meddling, what s not normal, folks, is parts of the federal government that used to lead this fight appear to be stuck in gridlock on the sidelines. commissioner weintraub is here for an exclusive interview to discuss her work.
