Academics sceptic about recently-passed Senate bill for compulsory Arabic education

Educators and academics have expressed reservations over a recently-passed bill from the Senate for making the teaching of Arabic compulsory at all the educational institutions, saying that the economic prospects of teaching Arabic are low and adding more languages to the curriculum will further deteriorate the teaching standards of mathematics and science subjects.
A few days earlier, the Senate of Pakistan passed the Compulsory Teaching of Arabic Language Bill 2020, to make Arabic a compulsory subject at all the educational institutions.
Talking to The News, a number of educators said the legislators should try to fill the loopholes of the educational system instead of overburdening the students. They opined that about 74 per cent of students from grade I to X were learning two languages Urdu and English – as compulsory subjects. Compulsory use of payment reference numbers for short-term SSS loan payments starts April 1

COMPUTER-GENERATED payment reference numbers (PRNs) will be required for short-term loan payments starting April 1, 2021, state fund Social Security System (SSS) said.
Billing months to be covered by this system will be from March 2021 and onwards.
The PRN, a system-generated number corresponding to an individual member’s loan billing statement (self-employed, voluntary, Overseas Filipino Worker) or employer, helps facilitate the immediate and correct posting of loan payments to their matching loan accounts.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora C. Ignacio said the SSS started to implement the use of PRNs for short-term member loan payments last year as part of the fund’s Real-Time Processing of Loans (RTPL) program. Transactions covered by the system include salary, calamity, emergency, and restructured loans. ....
