Inaction in the aftermath of the killing of Trayvon Martin, the goal was to ensure that the system worked through the proper process. That the killing of an unarmed 17yearold black child did not go uninvestigated and unprosecuted. So now the first part of that system has played out. The jury has returned a verdict of not guilty, a verdict we must respect. Now we must grapple what that verdict means.
