Application rework claims ‘contentious’, says broker

A mortgage broker has suggested that inconsistencies in credit application criteria between lenders and credit assessors could result in rework and delay the process.
According to a recent Broker Pulse survey from Momentum Intelligence, undertaken in partnership with The Adviser, brokers have reported that, on average, around a quarter of their interactions with credit assessors involve the assessor not applying the policy “consistently”.
As such, brokers have been calling for credit assessors to apply lender policies consistently as broker satisfaction with lender assessors has continued to plunge to record lows.
While some lenders have reportedly suggested that rework from broker applications was a “very significant factor” in longer turnaround times, many brokers told The Adviser that the assertion of incomplete applications remained a “contentious” issue.  ....

Museveni wins landslide in contentious Ugandan election

President Yoweri Museveni won a landslide victory extending his 35-year-rule in a contentious Ugandan election, fuelling concerns of an erosion of democracy after a campaign marred by violence and an internet shutdown.
The electoral commission on Saturday said official results showed Mr Museveni secured 58.6 per cent, while Robert Kyagulanyi, better known as Bobi Wine, received 34.8 per cent.
Mr Wine has said he would challenge the results. “Whatever is being declared is a complete sham,” he said. Electoral officials said the singer-turned-politician should prove his allegations of vote rigging, which he said he would do once internet access is restored. ....

Foodstuffs North Island will press ahead with a contentious plan to further centralise the process by which it buys and decides the range of products it stocks on its supermarket shelves.
