Who is John Brennan?
Born in 1955, John Owen Brennan is a former American intelligence officer who served as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from 2013 to 2017. He served as chief counterterrorism advisor to US President Barack Obama, with the title Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, and Assistant to the President.
Obama intended to appoint John Brennan as CIA director and faced a lot of criticism. Brennan withdrew his name over concerns about his support for torture. Instead, Brennan was appointed Deputy National Security Advisor. He was also the first official in the Obama administration to publicly acknowledge CIA drone strikes in Pakistan, Somalia, Libya, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. ....
