Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno abates parking tickets given out without warning, asks that residents are given ‘proper notification and notice to adjust accordingly’ Updated 10:27 AM; Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno is abating parking tickets recently given out on Dunmoreland Street in Springfield after residents told MassLive they had been given no warning. “I was like, ‘Whoa, whoa. What is going on?” said James Evans, adding that he saw six people walking down both sides of the street giving out tickets before he noticed the new signs. “They didn’t give us no warning.” The 72-year-old has been living on Dunmoreland Street for more than 50 years, always parking his car on the street because he lives in a multi-family house and others park in the driveway. ....
by afampov · April 12, 2021 JYNAI MCDONALD: IS ON THE JOB In the March issue of Point of View, I wrote a front page article on Ward 4 city council candidate Jynai McDonald that included her plans to revive the dormant tennis court on Acorn Street which is so overgrown with brush that it can no longer be seen. Apparently she decided not to wait until she wins the election. Jynai has already petitioned the Community Preservation Act Commission for funding to redevelop the court, which has been approved pending a Park Commission vote (which may have already happened by the time you read this) and has made substantial progress toward obtaining all other necessary approvals including consulting with the Bay Area Neighborhood Council whose President, Gwendolyn Smith, has written a letter of approval as have many other community and political leaders including a letter of support from our new State Senator Adam Gomez as well as a letter ....

Families received turkeys, toys and personal protective equipment, courtesy of the Old Hill Neighborhood Council and Friends of The Old Hill Neighborhood Council, state Rep. Bud Williams, The Brethren, Cozy Corner Cafe, Families Against Violence, Robert Jackson, Andrew Cade, Ward 4 City Councilor Malo Brown and Ward 5 City Councilor Marcus Williams. The distribution took place on Eastern Avenue. Bud Williams said the annual event gives a lift to one of the state’s most struggling low-income neighborhoods and allows residents to know that they are not forgotten within the community. ....
