Against stacking the deck Editor, Ceres Courier, It’s common knowledge how I feel about adding more of the good old boys and girls from the status quo that believe it’s common people don’t know anything about anything. I support Mr. White for the council appointment and believe we need new fresh ideas in local government. We need more private citizens that have not worked for the city or for the police department to get involved so that we become a stronger Ceres. Unfortunately, Ceres has to rely on a newspaper based in Turlock which is with an editor that wouldn’t kno...

Experience is needed for this City Council Chris Vierra must be shaking his head and thinking of asking Ceres residents: “Miss me yet?” If you want a reason why Ceres needs experience on the City Council, look no farther than Javier Lopez’s lack of experience. For decades I marveled at how Ceres city leaders remained free from scandal and controversy as other city councils and members in Hughson, Riverbank and Turlock experienced their own embarrassments. Now it seems like the new Ceres City Council is the laughingstock of the county. Lots of folks are now asking what I ...

Others are coming around to what I’ve been observing I must tell you that at times I feel like a voice crying in the wilderness of California. I sometimes feel defeated because it seems like the rest of the state – particularly the newer people on the planet – vote the opposite way of the way things should go. I had warned Ceres voters about electing two local candidates, Javier Lopez and Couper Condit but the...

Shutdown is nothing more than a rely on government scam See how this works: 1). The governor shuts down jobs and the economy for a flu that is 99.5 percent survivable. 2). His actions cause people to lose their jobs unnecessarily. 3). People naturally can’t pay their bills and their rents. 4). Our altruistic governor comes to their rescue and uses taxpayer funds to pay 80 percent of their overdue rent as long as the landlord takes a 20 percent loss. 5). The rescued renter hails the state as a hero and who “cares” and is indebted to vote Democrat from here until infinity....

Council should revisit garbage can visibility Now that we have a new Ceres City Council perhaps it will reverse the policy recently set that allows residents to keep their garbage cans in public view seven days a week. As you may remember, the city had a law on the books that said you had to hide away your cans unless it was during the hours you could set them out for collection. In November 2019, three members of the old council changed that, saying they had no problems with cans being stored next to a house or garage. Those three – Chris Vierra, Bret Durossette and Mike Kl...
