Supreme court struck down the coverage formula which they said was based on the past practices and not what was happening now and was unconstitutional. so texas no longer were under clearance regime, had to have voting changes cleared by department of justice. hr-4 would re-establish that coverage formula but have it national to apply to any states with voting rights violations in last 25 years, met a certain threshold, would be in preclearance, and other great things too, certain changes would have to be precluded no matter where they occurred and provide reasonable notice to voters ahead of time. what it wouldn t do is deal with laws already passed. in georgia, and if texas passes before that. laws made and passed in real ....

Gonna be difficult in the senate the hr4 is still really really important because it restores the voting rights act and improves it from what was done to it in 2013 went to the supreme court struck down the coverage formula. they said the coverage from light was based on past practices and for that reason it was unconstitutional and they struck down that formula. in states like my state, texas, no longer run the plea clearance regime which is cleared by the department of justice. hr4 will real establish that coverage formula but have a national coverage formula that could apply to any state that had voting rights violations in the last 12 to 5 years. they met a sort of threshold with preclearance and has some other great things to like practice free clearance because serving changes to elections will have to be cleared where they occurred and require a reasonable notice for voters are heading of time. these are all great things. ....

H.R. 4, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, would give liberal bureaucrats in the Department of Justice (DOJ) the power to veto changes of polling place locations, voter ID and registration requirements, and the boundary lines in redistricting in
every single state. It would also change legal standards to make it almost impossible for states to defend themselves against meritless litigation.
Supreme Court Ruling in
Shelby County v. Holder
