Democrat Lawmakers Urge VP To Remove Trump From Office President Trump 'is detached from reality,' says Rep. Ted Lieu. Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu of California on Wednesday urged US Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the Constitution's 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office amid protests. "Dear @VP @Mike_Pence: You need to start the 25th Amendment. @realDonaldTrump is detached from reality," he wrote on Twitter. His call came amid violence in the US capital of Washington, D.C. after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building. According to the amendment, in case of the removal of the president from office or of his death or resignation, the vice president shall become the president.
