A Bright Spot in 2021: Less Medicare Documentation Needed

A chance for change. Despite these challenging times, challenging in so many more ways than we could've ever imagined, the new year brought some hope related to one part of our broken healthcare system, and it was a change that we never even really saw coming. Although there's so much more to go, so many things that need fixing, many of us were surprised by the new CMS 2021 guidelines about Medicare billing and compliance. Who would've thought? For so many years, the rules and regulations about what needed to be in a progress note to allow a certain level of billing created massive note bloat...

Worse COVID-19 Outcomes Tied to MS Disability, Age

"We anticipated this," said Meg Frizzola, DO, chief of th...

email article WASHINGTON -- The federal government needs to make it easier for community health centers and other vaccine distribution locations to report on how many vaccines they have distributed, Lathran Woodard told the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on the coronavirus crisis. "We're having provider burnout because of the hassle of having to individually enter each vaccine," Woodard, who is board chairman of the National Association of Community Health Centers, said at a briefing Friday on ensuring equity in coronavirus vaccinations. "The flip side is we're getting less v...

ACOG to Ob/Gyns: Get Up to Speed on Transgender, Gender-Diverse Care

email article Transgender and gender-diverse patients have unique healthcare needs, and ob/gyn physicians should educate themselves so they can provide appropriate, inclusive, and affirming care, an American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) committee said. Providers should discuss patients' fertility desires as early as possible in the transition process, and ensure that contraceptive options are offered beyond gender-affirming hormone therapy, according to a report from ACOG's Committee on Gynecologic Practice and Committee on Health Care for Underserved Women. The doc...
