It was inside South Plains Mall, so a trip to Luby s not only meant I could have cake and pie, it also meant I was getting some new clothes or at least some hang time with cousins. I couldn t find the exact year it closed, but I did find a health department visit in 2018, which is later than I expected. In my mind, Luby s is a very pre-2010s memory. Luby s still has many locations throughout Texas for us to enjoy while on vacay, but ownership of this Texas chain is falling out of Texas hands. That s no reason to panic, though. According to Texas Monthly, the new owner has no intention of changing any Luby s recipes:
