The commercial production of orchids has been growing steadily in recent years, with particularly high demand among the genus
Phalaenopsis. Consequently, the floricultural industry has begun investigating the response of
Phalaenopsis cultivation under varying environmental conditions, including atmospheric CO
2 enrichment. The present review examines the work of Cho
et al. (2020), who studied the response of two
Phalaenopsis cultivars (Queen Beer Mantefon and Queen Beer Jupiter) to elevated CO
2 and nutrient supply over a period of 21 weeks.
The experiment was conducted in a controlled-environment greenhouse at the Bulmuri Orchid Nursery, Paju, Korea, where twenty-month-old plants were grown in pots under ambient (~400 ppm) or elevated (~650 ppm) CO ....

Efforts on to combat expected release of carbon dioxide under CPEC project

Islamabad : The climate change ministry is in a process to evolve a comprehensive strategy to combat expected daily release of 36.5 million tons of carbon dioxide due to heavy vehicular traffic under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
According to the latest data, climate change ministry has completed initial work in collaboration with the CPEC Authority and it would also get technical help from the Chinese government to reduce release of CO2 especially on the Karakorum Highway.
Various mega road projects are currently being pursued under the CPEC project and it is expected that some 7,000 trucks and trolleys would ply on these roads releasing a certain amount of carbon dioxide. ....

China s efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions can work in concert with its campaigns to control air pollution as a great proportion of the main greenhouse gas and air pollutants come from the same sources, according to experts and observers.
This synergy could play a major role in achieving climate targets, they said, adding that China needs to explore viable market mechanisms that incorporate the costs of carbon emissions into companies operations because many lack motivation to improve their efforts on climate action. ....
