CSPAN3 Tour Of San Antonios Pearl District July 13, 2024

Inclusivity. The city was created more than 300 years ago. This brewery was born of that. Brewer saw bubbles coming up and said he looked like pearls. It was in san antonio all the way to 2001. Then it fell into disrepair a little bit. This represents an interesting thing that san antonio has become. When they tore apart the old brewery, they did this to build this place back up. They took a lot of those old made themd gizmos and into sculptures. Way to look at how san antonio does not let anything go to waste. Are all about reclaiming history here in the city. You can watch other programs like this on our cities tour. This is American History tv. He served in the u. S. Armys 80th division under the command of george patton. CSPAN3 QA James Mann George W. Bush July 13, 2024

Tell you about him, what would you say . James i would say he was a guy who was the son of a president , had trouble dealing with that fact for the first 40 yearsplus of his life and then got his own personal life together enough to be a quite successful and shrewd politician to be elected governor of texas, and then became president of the united states. The first thing he would be known for then at the time of his presidency now and forever more will certainly be the fact that he was president at the time of the september 11th attacks and chose to wage a war in iraq that turned out to be a disaster. Brian what were his early years like . James well, he followed in his fathers footsteps and i say that quite literally, because he was forced almost to go to prep school at andover. He went to yale. He did many of the things his father did. It really in his mind, i think, it was not him. He once said many years later there were differences between him and his father starting with the fact ....

CSPAN3 QA Richard Norton Smith July 13, 2024

Richard its taken actually from the title of a relatively famous hoover speech about the uncommon man. If you remember, Vice President henry wallace, who was the second of fdrs Vice President s, gave a famous speech in 1942, i believe, maybe 1943, about the century of the common man. And wallace, from a left of center perspective, was projecting, in effect, the goals and ambitions of the generation that was fighting world war ii. It wasnt enough simply to defeat the nazis, but to create at home a true democracy, a place where the common man would finally come into his own. And hoover approached this from a different place on the political spectrum. He was in effect making the case for what we might call a meritocracy. Some of these things, i should not paraphrase it, but when you get sick, you want an uncommonly skillful doctor. When we go to war, we want an uncommonly able g ....

CSPAN3 American Artifacts First Half-Century Of Aviation July 13, 2024

Hello. Were going to go through a tour of some artifacts that really stand out in terms of the story of higher, faster, and farther. First, i would to talk about the museum overall. It has over 8 million visitors a year. Looking at the story of flight in the atmosphere, where i work in, we are looking at 500 aircraft and helicopters. About 67 are on display in the National Mall building. What supports these artifacts are up to 60,000 small and medium artifacts. Were going to talk about the story of higher, faster, farther. A bit of a cliche in the history of aviation but has a real meaning. We look at the people who made this quest of flying in the third dimension a reality. The idea of flying to the highest altitudes, faster speed, longest distances tells us a lot about the Technical Development of the airplane and the reinvention of what the
