Standardbred Canada announced the winners of the 2023 O’Brien Awards, honouring Canada’s best in harness racing over the past season, at the Black Tie Gala in Charlottetown, P.E.I. on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024. 

After another standout campaign in 2023, it’s only fitting that two-time Canadian champion pacing mare So Much More is a finalist for national honours yet again. And it couldn’t be more fitting this time with the O’Brien Awards returning to her native P.E.I. for the 35th anniversary edition.

Doug MacPhee died Wednesday morning at age 85. Friends say the Order of Canada recipient continued to practice and play piano each day.
