Karnataka crosses 25 lakh Covid cases, second to Maharashtra now

In Karnataka, the number of COVID-19 infections has crossed 25 lakh mark. As a result, the state's administration is considering a full-fledged protracted lockdown even after June 7th.

K'taka to launch Covid vaccination for 18-44 year-olds on Monday


Do not vaccinate pregnant, lactating mothers
Karnataka is all set to begin vaccination of people, in the 18 to 44 years age group, from Monday.
K. Sudhakar, the state's health and medical education minister, took to Twitter on Sunday, and shared plans to launch vaccination for this age group, in several government-run hospitals of the capital city.
In his tweet, the minister said that place will be earmarked for people of the age group at the vaccine centres Vaccine will be administered only to persons who book their slots on Arogyasetu or Cowin apps and obtain confirmed slots."
Vaccine shortages had forced the Karnataka government to symbolically launch this vaccination drive, recently.

Karnataka announces 15-day lockdown from tomorrow
Karnataka Health Minister K. Sudhakar on Saturday ruled out any possibility of implementing complete lockdown "as of now" but indicated continuing with the stringent measures to contain the Covid spread in the state.
After his tour of government hospitals in Kalaburagi, Sudhakar told reporters that there was need for enforcing stringent measures to contain the virus for another three to four weeks.
"But that does not mean reimposing full-fledged lockdown in the state," he said.

Reacting to a query on open defiance of lockdown at various places, the Minister appealed to the people across the state to wear a mask compulsorily whenever one steps out of the house or workplace.

Karnataka sees a single day high of 17,489 Covid-19 cases
Karnataka’s daily Covid-19 positivity rate on Saturday has risen sharply to 12.20 percent. On Friday it stood at 11.11 percent and on Thursday it was 11.38 percent.
The state’s case fatality rate (CFR) too is on the rise, today CFR is 0.45 percent. It stood at 0.52 percent on Friday.
The state has reported a single day highest new Covid-19 cases in a week at 17,489 cases, of these 11,404 new cases were reported from Bengaluru Urban district alone.

Days after former Karnataka minister Ramesh Jarkiholi's alleged 'sleaze CD' surfaced, several incumbent ministers have moved a city court here, seeking to restrain media organizations from publishing or airing any 'defamatory or unauthenticated' material against them.
The six ministers of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa's government who moved the court on Friday night are - Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar, Agriculture Minister B. C. Patil, Cooperative Minister S.T. Somashekar, Health K. Sudhakar, Youth Empowerment and Sports Minister K. C. Narayana Gowda and Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj.
