Warren Buffett's company Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) made significant reductions in the fourth quarter to three long-standing investments: Apple, HP, and Paramount Global.
"A lot of real estate isn't so good any more," Berkshire investing legend Charlie Munger told the Financial Times. "There's a lot of agony out there."
The gap, at 3.4% as of the close on Friday, is normally between zero and 1%. The reason for the recent strength in the A shares is unclear.
BYD''s stock price has fallen 14% since the start of February, with rival EV maker Tesla up 9% in the same period as it pushes ahead with reductions for buyers.
"The math isn't complicated: When the share count goes down, your interest in our many businesses goes up," Buffett told shareholders.
