itself as a sanctuary city and busts people to our country. it s only draining taxpayer resources from the families already here. this is incentivizing illegal immigration and does nothing to support the infrastructure on the hard working citizens. martha: a lot of backlash to this plan. the major s plan would pay for up to four months of food and shelter for 300 men that would move into a hotel in rockland and then another one in orange county. they are absolutely outraged by this plan. so really, you could see suburban towns in other places in america starting to feel the burden even more once title 42 lifts in three days. thousands are crossing every day. over five million think about it. we have about 320 million people in this country. over five million people have crossed the border and come in since the president took office. that s a lot of people who have now been let in with no process, no vetting. very little court dates. two years out for a court date. like co
The FCT as a case study has over 10,000 secondary schools and less than 10 technical schools. This is an aberration because students who have the potentials in excelling in technical, vocational and trade centres reluctantly attend secondary schools only to fail in the end. Why do we have so many secondary schools and not a single privately owned technical school in FCT? I pause for an answer.
Another positive from the 2024 UTME is the number of females that applied this year, which is a bit higher than in previous years. According to the JAMB registrar, 982,393 males, representing 49.4 per cent, enrolled for the 2024 UTME, as against 1,007,275 females, which is 50.6 per cent. This is a huge boost for girl-child education in our country. I am glad that parents are beginning to see the importance of educating their girl-child.
All over the world, political economy serves as the determinant of education. For example, how come the Law Students who founded the West African Students Union (WASU) were predominantly from Western Nigeria? How come Christopher Sapara Williams, the first indigenous Nigerian lawyer was a Yoruba man? That was as far back as 1879! How come Adetokunbo Ademola, the first indigenous chief justice of the Nigerian Supreme Court, and Akintola Williams, Nigeria’s first indigenous chartered accountant, were also of Yoruba extraction? So, what has changed?

That explains why universities continue to increase in number despite woeful academic performance of applicants. If we choose to, we can get it right.
