With their backs against the wall, the third-seeded Florida State softball team (53-9) turned to their ace, Kathryn Sandercock, and she delivered with the Seminoles' 15th perfect game in school history to defeat South Carolina (40-22), 1-0, in a winner-take-all regional final matchup. The win advanced the Seminoles to their 10th Super Regional where they will host No. 14 Georgia in Tallahassee. Dates and times are still TBD.
Sandercock's perfect game was the first solo perfect game since Meghan King did it on Mar. 12, 2016, against Tulsa. It was also Florida State's first perfect game in the NCAA Tournament.
After South Carolina won game one 4-0 to force a second game, Sandercock got the start in the circle and gave a raucous crowd a lot to cheer about as she struck out the first batter she saw. ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Florida State Men’s Golf Alum Brooks Koepka added to his Majors lore on Sunday afternoon, winning his fifth overall and third PGA Championship after shooting 9-under (72-66-66-67) at historic Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.

Koepka, who played at Florida State University from 2008-12, joined yet another exclusive club that has captured three or more PGA Titles. The West Palm Beach, Fla., native is part of a list that includes Walter Hagen (5), Jack Nicklaus (5), Tiger Woods (4), Gene Sarazen (3) and Sam Snead (3) in that group.

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Starting pitcher Jackson Baumeister and third baseman Cam Smith earned All-ACC recognition Monday as the league announced its end-of-year honors. Baumeister, a sophomore pitcher, was a third-team starting pitcher, while Smith was named to the All-Freshman Team. Baumeister, from Jacksonville, finished 5-5 with a 5.09 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 69.0 innings. Baumeister started all 14 weekends and finished third in the league in strikeouts and was second in the ACC and 21st nationally with 12.39 strikeouts per nine innings. He was named the ACC and National Pitcher of the Week for his 14-strikeout performance against Clemson, leading the Noles to the series-opening victory. In his final appearance of the year, Friday at Louisville, Baumeister overcame an early deficit and pitched a career-high 8.0 innings as FSU rallied from a 4-0 hole to a 7-4 win. LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Ben Barrett had three more hits Saturday, including his first career triple and a pair of RBI doubles, as Florida State wrapped its 2023 season with a 6-2 win at Louisville Saturday afternoon.
Barrett notched his second three-hit game of the weekend after hitting three singles Thursday night. The Orlando native wraps his freshman season hitting .359 with 16 runs, 21 RBI and 28 hits in just 21 games.
Conner Whittaker allowed two runs in 6.0 innings, and the Seminoles consistently got out of trouble thanks to spectacular defense. The Noles ended the fifth, seventh and eighth innings with a double play, and also turned one in the first inning. The four double plays tied a season high and were one shy of the school record.
