I am sorry to say that not only did New London Mayor Michael Passero sell out the other victims of Gov. Ned Lamont s $200 million remake of State Pier  from road salt contractors and longshoremen to local fishermen when he signed a deal with the rich utilities that will profit from the project.
But he settled cheaply.
The host community agreement Passero signed in February provides new money for the city only if the planned project is completely executed at full scope and some cheaper, more modest plan is not approved instead.
With cost overruns clocking in at increments of tens of millions of dollars and a public hearing set to begin soon on the enormous environmental permits required to remove a hillside and fill in 7 acres of the harbor, the prospects of the city getting any new money from this new host deal are still dubious. ....

Thousands of customers experienced power outages in the state Sunday, according to information from Eversource and United Illuminating.
As of 5:37 p.m., outage data for Eversource showed 2,270 customers experiencing outages in the state, with the highest numbers in Bloomfield with 337, Montville with 325 and Vernon with 260.
United Illuminating had 3,198 customers experiencing outages, according to data updated at 5:39 p.m., with the highest numbers recorded at 2,544 in West Haven and 597 in Easton. ....

Several towns across Connecticut are experiencing power outages due to high winds that blew between Friday night and Saturday morning.
Among the hardest-hit towns were Harwinton with about 298 outages, Middletown with 290, Newtown with 187 and Litchfield with 185. Woodstock and Weston have also reported over 100 outages as of 7:43 a.m. Saturday morning and there are other, smaller clusters of outages scattered around the state.
An Eversource outage map reported 1,530 outages statewide as of 8:30 Saturday morning.
Harwinton First Selectman Michael Criss said the town received wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, the heaviest ones striking between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday morning. The majority of outages have been traced back to Route 4, which a portion of is currently closed off as Eversource crews work to fix a downed power line.
