a technical breakthrough. the economic breakthrough in terms of energy being cost effective for billions of people, we are years away. but we have gotten a lot of energy from nuclear fission. but fusion involves fusing together the nuclei of atoms. it's exciting that at least there is more energy coming out than the energy from the laser going in. i don't know if we know the full energy use. but what granholm said is offensive to me. what it would looks like to lead on energy would be to lib at nuclear fuels. but this administration has opposed fossil fuels.

we have been looking to try to create fusion rather than fission for 60 years, and a part of the government that has funded this is the national nuclear security administration. this effort is an effort where you point a bunch of lasers a very small target and heat up that very small target as he push the particles of atoms together, hydrogen atoms together, and that creates extra energy. believe me, it's not just us, all across the world, scientists have been in search of ignition, as you aptly described it, were you put in less energy then you take out, where more energy is created. this is the first time anywhere in the world, in any laboratory, that has actually been achieved. it has cost billions of dollars over there, this lab, the national energy facility, it's a huge facility, but it tells

difficult? fission and fusion were discovered at almost the same time in the 1930s, ten years later we had the atomic bomb and nuclear power plant operating on this basis. breaking things is easier than putting them together. fusion still remains ahead of us, so this is a great breakthrough but it's a step forward. i but it's a step forward. i can't imagine we are but it's a step forward. i can't imagine we are all going to be switching on our nuclear fusion reactors in our kitchen cupboards tomorrow morning, what hurdles still remain? if what hurdles still remain? if you look at the largest ledger facility in the world, which means it pumps a lot of energy into something very tiny, the target they are working with is the size of an eraser for a pencil, and inside of that he right to make eraser size target there is something even smaller, the secretary target contains those elements that fused together, including
